Our first university day tour has successfully concluded!
It’s just wonderful being able to take the students on campus, explore the different lecture halls, and the campus life, as well as have Walter, a University of Toronto alumni serving as our tour guide to unveil the mysterious campus. (As well as exciting stories, tips, and tricks for surviving university life).
We are also super honored to have Carter, a very experienced U of T teaching assistant currently completing his post-graduate degree in the statistics program, participating in the day tour as a guest speaker. Carter shared his experience of university life coming from the perspective of the teaching department side of U of T.
“What do you think is the key to being successful, in university?“ A student asked.
“Oh, it’s definitely using the help that you have paid for first.“ Carter answered, “many students are too shy to seek out help, when in reality they desperately needed them, so they go out spending extra money and time looking for other ways or people to help them when in reality, the help is already available to them on campus, by the professors and TAs (teaching assistants) who know best about the course as they are already teaching them and assigning them homework. So definitely seek out the help that you have paid for first. “
We’re sure from the looks on our students’ faces that Carter has definitely brought a lot of inspiration to the students as they were listening.
After giving thanks to Carter, and giving our designed Alight T-Shirt as a gift, we bid farewell and continued our tour around the campus.
As we toured more areas of the campus, our students continued to express awe towards either the architecture of the buildings or the advanced techs that are featured here. Overall, a fascinating experience.
We had an Answer-For-Prize section at the end of the tour, and all the students rushed to answer the questions, and many of them were able to get the questions right. They definitely learned a lot from the campus, made our day!
We’ll continue to plan and feature more university campus tours in the future, so stay tuned by subscribing to our email list to know more. For now, AlightEdu, signing out!
